Inspired by Cecile Daladier’s Suiban Basins, I have had a go at making my own. Fill these with water, and place the flowers in the kenzan/frog in the middle, or float blossoms directly on the waters surface.
Suiban, which translates to "water basin," is a shallow, flat container that plays a unique role in ikebana. Instead of holding flowers directly, it is typically used in combination with a kenzan to secure the stems.
